What Is Scripture?
FOUNDATIONS: Week 28

Who Chose Paul?

Key Texts: Acts 9; Acts 22; Acts 26; Galatians 1

Some claim Paul appointed himself as an apostle.

But what does Scripture say?

Paul begins his letter to the Galatians with these words:

"Paul, an apostle, not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father..."
(Galatians 1:1)

Paul did not campaign for apostleship.

He was confronted by the risen Yahusha on the road to Damascus.

His calling was confirmed through Ananias.

His testimony remained consistent throughout his life (Acts 9; 22; 26).

Whether one agrees with Paul's writings or not, the first question must be answered honestly:

Who chose Paul?

According to Scripture, it was not men.

It was Yahusha Himself.

Rejecting Paul's apostleship therefore raises an even greater question:

If Yahusha commissioned Paul, who has the authority to reject His choice?

Question for Discussion

Was Paul's apostleship established by men—or by the risen Messiah Himself?
